James Ensor grew up in his mum and aunt's shop. A shop full of crazy stuff. He played with his sister among souvenirs, shells, crazy vases, masks and strange carnival costumes. Then surely it is normal that he had weird dreams as a child. Then it is quite normal that he made strange drawings and paintings.
After the successful tours and CD recordings of 'Zwanenzang' and 'Rare snuiters' in Belgium and the Netherlands, Dimlicht brings a new musical theatre. 'Ensor, musically speaking' is based on the new collection of poems by award-winning children's writer Guy Didelez, with beautiful drawings by Caryl Strzelecki. Dimlicht's clarinet, trumpet, cello and harp bring to life the music from the ballet 'La gamme d'amour', composed by James Ensor himself. And narrator Tom Van Outryve guides you through the life story of the artist from Ostend.
