Our mission

LOD muziektheater is a Ghent production company for opera and musical theatre, a creative base for performing artists.

LOD does this on the one hand by setting up long-term collaborations with some of the most idiosyncratic creators in contemporary music theatre. Composers such as Bushra El-Turk, Frederik Neyrinck and Nabou Claerhout and directors such as Lies Pauwels, Gorges Ocloo, Josse De Pauw, Inne Goris and Steve Salembier are regulars in the LOD story. LOD pursues a broad artistic vision and is known for the high quality of its productions.

⟩ Talent Development

LOD is strongly committed to the development of young talent. Through the European Network of Opera Academies (enoa) and the annual Bijloke Summer Academy - Music Theatre (in collaboration with SPECTRA, KASK School Of Arts, Muziekcentrum De Bijloke and International Opera Academy), we annually support many young performing artists with a heart for music theatre.

⟩ Ghent Made: LOD Studio & Bijloke Wonderland

LOD is born and raised in Ghent and is one of the faces of the Bijloke site. We increasingly focus on presenting our productions in our own LOD Studio and during the annual summer festival Bijloke Wonderland. At the same time, LOD operates explicitly internationally, through the many touring performances and co-productions with foreign partners.
