New chapter for enoa

Dear enoa community,

We want to inform you that enoa is currently writing a new chapter.

After successfully securing a Creative Europe grant for three consecutive cycles (2011-2024), the network recently applied for a fourth project, focusing on the sustainability of the opera sector and its stakeholders. Unfortunately, our application was not successful this time: our ambitions were high, but so was the competition.

Consequently, 2025 will be a year of transition for the network. Without European fundings, we will have to reevaluate our operations and mission. This means that, for now, there will not be a new enoa programme, activities, workshops, or open calls.

As we are navigating through this new chapter, the enoa-partners are still committed to exploring new ways to support artistic creation and artist mobility, staying true to enoa’s core values of equality, diversity, and inclusion. We are taking our time to thoroughly reflect together and will keep you updated on our plans in the upcoming months.

The network still firmly believes in its mission and its enduring relevance in today’s opera world. From its creation 2009 and the first cycle of activities (2011-2015), enoa brought its partners together to organise and share workshops focused on artistic development. The launch of the Young Opera Makers programme (2016-2020) elevated career trajectories and fostered innovative creative processes on a European scale. The Empowering Opera programme (2020-2024) once again demonstrated the network's ability to innovate, thanks to the even stronger connections among the different partners and sector.

Through these initiatives, enoa has supported bold and inclusive opera projects that resonate with contemporary society. This legacy of creativity and collaboration would not have been possible without the incredible artists and the dedicated network of partners and associates who make up the enoa community. In its 15 years of activity, enoa has supported over 2.000 artists, as well as the development and European touring of 22 opera productions, including 17 world premieres. These programmes were all made possible through the support of the Creative Europe programme's Culture strand.

For this, we extend our heartfelt gratitude towards everyone who has collaborated in any shape or form to this network. The network would not exist without its partners, associated partners, and most of all: the many artist that have joined our programmes. Thank you for your great support and for being part of our network.

As we move forward, we will need to adjust our communication channels. Some will be paused, slowed down, or closed—including the enoa website (enoa-community.com), which will go offline in January 2025. A presentation page of enoa will still be accessible here.

Nevertheless, we are eager to maintain the spirit of enoa and continue fostering meaningful connections across the sector. We remain open to new collaborations and opportunities that support artists and institutions alike.

From now on, you can reach us at info@enoa-community.com . Alternatively, feel free to contact our partners directly.

Let’s work together to ensure the enoa spirit continues to thrive in this new chapter.

Warm regards,
