LOD music theatre welcomes Dries Douibi as new artistic director

LOD is delighted to announce Dries Douibi as its new artistic director. This appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter in the rich history of the Ghent-based music theatre company, known for its innovative stage productions. Douibi brings a fresh vision and years of experience to LOD. His expertise and passion for stage creation, both locally and internationally, are exactly what the organization needs at this time. Douibi will start his role at LOD in March and will remain connected to Kunstenfestivaldesarts until May 2026, overseeing his final festival edition there.

A new course for LOD
Chairwoman Ilse Jansoone: “LOD is in an important phase of transformation. The board sees in Dries Douibi an artistic director with a bold and forward-looking vision on music theatre, a coach and dramaturg deeply rooted in the artistic practice, with a strong multidisciplinary network. With these qualities, we see Dries as the artistic leader LOD needs to further shape the structural dynamics of the company.”

Dries Douibi: “My passion for artistic creation has been a guiding thread throughout my professional career. The opportunity to now apply all my accumulated knowledge to a production house that creates innovative music theatre feels like a natural next step in my journey. It’s a chance I’m eager to seize with both hands. I look forward to working with the team to further explore the boundaries of the genre.” 

Dual Leadership
Together with business director Kathleen Treier, Dries Douibi will form a dual leadership of the Ghent music theatre company. This complementary collaboration between artistic and business expertise underwrites LOD’s ambition to further develop as a leading, multidisciplinary, and innovative music theatre company.
