The Grief of Red Granny at Wiener Festwochen 2025

For the second year in a row, LOD  is presenting its work at the prestigious Wiener Festwochen festival. Selected by Milo Rau plays The Grief of Red Granny by Gorges Ocloo / Lod Muziektheater & Toneelhuis on June 19, 20 and 21, 2025 at the Odeon Theater, Vienna. 

The Grief of Red Granny is the first part of a two-part AfrOpera about individual and collective grief. In this first part, we take an emotional journey through a woman's heart, loosely inspired by Queen Elisabeth and Gorges' grandmother (two Red Grannies) and portrayed by actress Tine Joustra. She welcomes us into the ruins of her memories and takes us on the waves of her unprocessed grief.
